It looks like the Howard Stern effect is still going strong.
Last week, satellite radio company
Sirius announced that it had reached 6 million subscribers at the end of 2006, up 82% from 2005.

Sirius
also announced that it had reached its first ever quarter of positive cash flow in the fourth quarter of 2006. That's good news for investors, since Sirius often bleeds cash.
XM Satellite Radio, meanwhile, announced on Friday that it finished 2006 with 7.625 million subscribers. One
analyst, however, was not impressed:
Craig Moffett, an analyst with Bernstein Research, asserts that the numbers are less than impressive. “There’s no way to put a positive spin on XMSR’s subscriber results…last year at this time, XMSR was guiding for 9 million subscribers by the end of 2006, implying a net gain of over 3 million.â€
XM
released some news this morning at the CES show in Las Vegas, but really, there was nothing terribly exciting.
Rumors of a merger between XM and Sirius are still continuing.
